I AM essay

Written composition

15-20 points Write a well-composed, grammatically correct and legible "I am composition" of about 1 page on a Spanish/French historical character . The text should be one and a half-spaced, size 12 font. Include biographical details about the character you have chosen, such as important dates and relevant facts.

10-15 points Less than the required amount of text in a form not specified. The text is lacking some of the biographical information and necessary detail. The text is written in less than grammatical English with significant punctuation and/or spelling errors.

0 -10 points There is an inadequate amount of text. It is poorly written in that there are a significant number of spelling, grammar and/or punctuation errors. The composition is so lacking in biographical detail as to leave the reader with many questions about the character being described. Plagiarism will not be accepted.

Artifacts

15 -20 points Bring a significant item to class to present. The item should enhance the character being presented. The item should be relevant and the audience left in no doubt as to the connection between the item and the character. If the item has been created by the presenter, it should be created with care and imagination.

10-15 points The item is somewhat related but not entirely relevant to the character or period of history being presented. The item does not greatly impress the audience with its creativity or the imagination of the presenter. The item has been created with an average degree of care.

0 -10 points The item is difficult to relate to the character or period being presented. The item shows no or little imagination and leaves the audience in doubt as to the connection between the character and the item. The item has been created in a haphazard or careless way.

Costume

15-20 points plus 15 extra credit Create and wear a costume which is imaginative and completely in keeping with the character and period of history being presented. The costume should be worn on the day of presentation (October 31, 2002). The costume should be created for less than $20 and NOT bought or hired in its entirety. Imagination and creativity are more important than a large outlay of money. The clever use of everyday items in creating a costume will enhance the grade.

10-15 points plus 15 extra credit The presenter wears a costume that is somewhat but not entirely in keeping with the character. The costume has been hired or bought ready-made. The presenter has spent more than $20 on the production of the costume. The costume shows little imagination or creativity.

0-10 points 15 extra credit The presenter has made minimum or no effort in producing a costume. The costume has little or no relevance to the character or period of history. The presenter has shown little or no imagination in creating the costume.
